Hive has transformed over the years from a slow but scalable batch processing engine to a interactive, fully-featured SQL query tool. The next phase in Hive takes processing even further by providing an in-memory processing engine as well as ACID compliance providing insert, update, and delete capabilities. This presentation will explore the present and the future of Hive and provide you a roadmap into this fast-changing technology.

Hive has transformed over the years from a slow but scalable batch processing engine to a interactive, fully-featured SQL query tool. The next phase in Hive takes processing even further by providing an in-memory processing engine as well as ACID compliance providing insert, update, and delete capabilities. About Scott:
Scott Shaw has over a decade of experience in data management. He is a frequent speaker at local and national community events and has co-authored two books on T-SQL. He teaches as well as implements Pig, Hive, Hadoop, as well as teaches courses on SQL Server, and Microsoft BI. He is currently working on a book titled "Practical Hive” to be published by Apress publishing. He lives in St. Louis and is a Sr. Solutions Engineer for Hortonworks.
